The Government of Indonesia may reject the contract extension with Japanese consortium in the operation of Indonesia Asahan Aluminium or Inalum, the country’s largest bauxite smelter, local newspaper reported. The contract, which has started since 1975, will expire in 2013. Once this expired, Aneka Tambang and Krakatau Steel may be urged to form a Joint Venture or consortium to operate Inalum, the report said.
