• Fitch Ratings released its statements on banking industry in Indonesia. The agency sees that amid friendlier environment, banking sector may post double digit loans growth this year, driven by lower cost of fund.
• Fitch also stated that the global economic turbulence last year has no major impact on Indonesia. As such, the agency sees that Indonesia may post strong economic growth this year.
• However, the agency views that banks capital adequacy may decrease on Basel II implementation.
• This statement will increase optimism on banking sector ability to post strong loans growth compared to total domestic loans growth in 2009, which only grew less than 10% at 9.96%.
