Shares of some top coal companies were up at the close of trading:
Arch Coal rose $.22 or 1.6 percent, to $13.71.
Consol Energy rose $1.43 or 5.5 percent, to $27.48.
Massey Energy rose $.10 or 1.0 percent, to $10.27.
Peabody Energy rose $.61 or 2.5 percent, to $25.15.
